Cortana, Microsoft’s voice assistant, has grown up quite a bit over the course the last year. Evolving from a concept still in beta, to being integrated into Windows 10 devices of all sizes, with apps for iOS and Android, is no small feat. Back in September, we first learned about Cyanogen’s plan to bring extensive Cortana integration to its Cyanogen OS.
OnePlus’ forums confirmed that an update (12.1-YOG7DAS2K1) containing Cortana integration is now rolling out to Cyanogen OS users on the OnePlus One. An official blog post from Windows back on December 7th revealed some of the details related to Cortana’s Cyanogen OS partnership.
For instance, users will be able to use “Hey Cortana” to activate the assistant from any screen, change select system settings, turn their phone off, or activate Quiet Mode. This functionality is in addition to opening apps and searching for information, functionality featured in Cortana’s iOS and Android app.
Microsoft’s blog post indicates other Cyanogen OS devices will be receive this functionality in early 2016 and that additional partnerships will be coming in the future.
