In late 2014, the Ontario government announced that it planned to “modernize” Lottery and Gaming in the province.
The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG), which operates lotteries such as Lotto 6/49 and Lotto Max, generates over $3 billion a year in revenues. A year ago, it began its quest to digitize its network of gaming with the launch of gambling website PlayOLG, which it expects to generate $89 million in additional funds each year.
Now, with the explosion of mobile devices throughout the province, the OLG has set its sights on building an app to cater to its constituents’ changing patterns. The provincial organization says it will release an app to offer Ontario residents the option to play blackjack, slots and poker directly from their mobile device.
Unfortunately, there was no indication of who is developing the app or when the app will be available.
