When Hideo Kojima, the creator of the Metal Gear Solid series, and Mark Cerny, the lead architect of the PlayStation 4, join forces, exciting innovation is almost certainly poised to happen.

Following his months long departure from Konami, Kojima and Sony quickly announced a partnership that will see the famous developer creating exclusive content for the PlayStation 4. In what seems like an extension of this agreement, Cerny and Kojima are currently on a 10 day tour of Sony Computer Entertainment’s (SCE) various studios and offices. During a recent visit to SCE’s London studio, Kojima tested out the company’s two upcoming VR titles, The Deep and The London Heist.

Cerny also mentioned, via Twitter, that SCE London is working on yet another virtual reality title, though he didn’t say what this title actually is. Images in the background of photos, presumably depicting the game Kojima is playing, are blurred out.
While it’s still unclear, given the emphasis placed on VR during Cerny and Kojima’s recent studio visit, it’s possible the man behind the Metal Gear Solid series could be looking to integrate virtual reality into his newest game. Kojima is known for pushing the video game industry forward through innovative technology and development techniques, so it’s likely there is at least some truth to this speculation.
The pair’s “high-end technology” tour, also made a stop at Media Molecule, the studio behind the Little Big Planet franchise.
It’s unclear when Sony’s upcoming virtual reality headset will be released, or how much it will cost, but in the past the company has stated that it will land on store shelves at some point in 2016.
