Bell has expanded its rugged device lineup by bringing the heavy duty Sonim XP7 IS to Canada.
This beast of a phone can handle more than the occasional drop or scratch as it’s CSA IS Class 1 Division 1 certified, which means it’s engineered to take on excessive heat, water, and is even durable enough to survive being driven over by a truck.
The design of this LTE-enabled Push-to-talk (PTT) device is not for everyone but offers a similar design to Sonim’s past device’s. The phone’s 4-inch 480 x 800 pixel display can even be used with wet fingers or gloves.
The Sonim XP7 IS runs on Android 4.4 KitKat. Unfortunately, there are no signs of an update to Lollipop or Marshmallow. In addition, the phone includes a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, 16GB of internal storage, 1GB RAM, an 8 megapixel camera and a 3,600 mAh battery.
The premium priced rugged smartphone is available through Bell for $1,299.99 on a 2-year contract or $1699.99 no-term.
