Update – March 21st: HTC has updated it site for Vive pre-orders and is now showing that shipping sometime in May. Unfortunately, no indication from the company of how sales have been in Canada. – (Update by Ian Hardy)
Update – February 29th: HTC has gone live with Vive pre-orders and is available to Canadians for $1,149. The VR headset is expected to ship to Canada “early April” and comes with its “refreshed branding,” two wireless controllers and three games.
Update – Feb. 29th 1:26pm: HTC CEO Cher Wang stated on Twitter that there has been an “overwhelming response” to HTC Vive pre-orders. Unfortunately, no details as to the numbers.
HTC has just revealed Canadian pricing for its upcoming virtual reality headset.
The Valve co-developed VR headset will cost $1,149, according to a press release sent by HTC. Each Vive order will ship with two wireless controllers and three games, including Tilt Brush and Job Simulator.
Pre-orders open on Monday, February 29. HTC expects to begin shipping the Vive to consumers and stores in early April.
In contrast, Facebook’s competing VR headset, the Oculus Rift, costs $914 when shipping is factored in, and is set to start shipping in April as well.
