While the Nexus 5X has generally been well-received by both critics and users alike (we loved the device when we got a chance to review it), some people have noted the phone is prone to slowing down. Worse, apps sometime randomly shutdown for no apparent reason.
The good news is that those issues may soon be resolved.
According to Reddit user Orrin, Google’s Nexus community manager, the 5X’s next over the air (OTA) update includes a number of bug fixes that will address “overall stability, connectivity and performance.” Also included in the OTA are Google’s monthly Android security updates.
According to several Reddit users who have already installed the update on their 5X, the update noticeably improves performance. One user called the difference “night and day.”
The update is scheduled to start rolling out over the next couple of days. If you’re the impatient (and technical) type, you can grab the update now by downloading and installing the latest 5X factory image (MHC19J) from Google’s developer website. Instructions on how to install the image can be found at the top of the page.
