After a number of months of iOS exclusivity, Exploding Kittens is now available on Android devices.
Based on the card game of the same name, Exploding Kittens pits two to five players against one another in a game of Russian Roulette. But instead of dodging bullets, it’s up to players to avoid the game’s titular exploding kittens.
Each turn, players draw cards that can help them affect the state of the game’s main deck. Players must attempt to avoid drawing an exploding kitten, but if they do draw one, they can use a defuse card to keep playing. Other cards can force opposing players into a situation where they have to draw an exploding kitten without recourse to a defuse card. In essence, that’s all there really is to game. It’s fun, fast-paced and it feels great when you get an upper hand on one of your friends.
The game features the art work created by noted cat lover Matthew Inman, most famous for his work on the Oatmeal. Exploding Kittens’ other claim to fame is the Kickstarter campaign that brought it to life. In 2015, the game raised close to $9-million dollars through the crowdfunding platform, making it the fourth most funded campaign in Kickstarter’s history.
For those don’t have a couple of real-life friends handy, the game also includes online multiplayer against strangers.
Download Exploding Kittens from the Google Play Store for $2.66 CAD. The Android release comes with several new cards that help make the experience more devious.
