Starting today, all Opera Mini users can take advantage of the platform’s native ad-blocking feature.
The company behind the browser, Opera Software, says when enabled its native ad-blocker helps Opera Mini load webpages 40 percent faster. To compile its results, the company compared load times on 50 content-rich websites using a Nexus 5X accessing the internet while on Wi-Fi.
For those on a smartphone plan with a limited data allowance, Opera says its browser’s ad-blocking technology will help further reduce one’s data usage. According to the company, its compression technology can reduce a user’s data usage from surfing the web by about 90 percent.
To enable the feature, navigate to the “O” menu in Opera Mini, tap the data-savings summary and “block ads.” Just, um, please don’t use it while reading articles on MobileSyrup. Man’s got a cat to feed.
Download Opera Mini from Google Play Store. Native ad-blocking is also available via Opera’s desktop browser.
