Nervous to pull the trigger on that hefty online purchase? PayPal is now offering a free service in Canada that will allow buyers to return their purchase to the sender and receive a refund with no added shipping fees.
“Canadians are warming up to online shopping, but uncertainty around returns can make people think twice about clicking the buy button,” said Kerry Reynolds, head of consumer marketing at PayPal Canada in a release sent out today.
The company backs this up with an Ipsos survey that found 40 percent of Canadians are worried about ordering the wrong item online and not being able to return it to the vendor.
There are some limitations, of course. The service will only work on purchases made through PayPal, and account holders are only eligible for up to 10 refunds per year at a limit of $30 per claim. Buyers must also register to the service before being able to make any claims. Once a claim is made, buyers will receive the refund within 10 days of mailing the item.
The company notes that the service, which it calls “Return Shipping on Us,” is now available to just under 40 countries across the world.
