Real-life Iron Man Elon Musk visits Pentagon to talk about a ‘flying metal suit’

If you didn’t already believe Elon Musk, the man behind SpaceX and Tesla, is basically fictional superhero Tony Stark, then this might change your mind.

Responding to a CNN story that looked into why the Musk met with U.S. secretary of Defense Ash Carter earlier this week, Musk replied via a tweet that said the following:

There are likely a variety of other reasons Musk would meet with the Pentagon given that tech innovation is likely something the U.S. government is very interested in. Still, it’s an incredibly amusing notion that Musk actually met with the Pentagon in order to hatch a plan to create a “flying metal suit.”

Back in April Musk’s SpaceX won a contract with the U.S. Air Force with $87.2 million to launch a GPS satellite in May 2018. And in March of this year, the Pentagon also created an advisory board in order to “tap innovation” from the private sector.

This board is helmed by Alphabet chairman Eric Schmidt and according to a recent press release, its goal is to recruit members “who have successfully led large private and public organizations, and excelled at identifying and adopting new technology concepts,” though no new members have been announced yet.

During Recode’s Code Conference, Musk also stated that he believes we live inside a video game-like simulation.

“There’s a billion to one chance we’re living in base reality,” said Musk at the conference earlier this month.
