At its annual WWDC developer conference, Apple today announced macOS users will soon be able to use Apple Pay while browsing via Safari.
When macOS Sierra launches later this year, users will be able to pay for online web purchases with Apple Pay. Using the company’s Continuity feature and Safari web browser, macOS users will be to authorize purchases through a Touch ID fingerprint-enabled iPhone or Apple Watch.
Apple Pay is currently available in Canada, US, UK, Australia, and Singapore. Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of software engineering, stated the Apple Pay will soon expand to Switzerland, France, and Hong Kong.
Apple Pay officially went live in Canada in November 2015 with American Express. Last month, CIBC, RBC, TD Canada Trust, BMO, and Scotiabank, ATB Financial, and Canadian Tire Financial Services made the mobile payment solution available to millions of Canadians through both debit and credit card payments.
