Instead to make your life easy, we’ve rounded up the most important news to come out of WWDC2016. Here’s what you need to know or better yet just watch the video.
WatchOS 3
- Apple Watch will now load apps significantly faster with the introduction of Instant Launch. Apple has optimized the software to keep the most used apps in the background.
- A new docking feature has been implemented to allow you to multi-task on the Apple Watch similar to the way you do on an iPhone.
- New watch faces including Minnie Mouse and an activity watch face that displays your exercise tracking data on-screen at all times.
- Communication is being improved with the addition of stickers, handwriting, and invisible ink, which reveals a message as the receiver swipes over it.
TvOS
- A more powerful Siri is coming to Apple TV with expanded capabilities like searching across even more apps including YouTube.
- A new Live tune-in feature where Siri will search live games or TV shows across networks such as ESPN.
- The option to switch from a white background to a dark background is now available. The dark mode is meant to match a home theatre environment or darker rooms.
MacOS
- OSX 10.12 has been renamed to macOS Sierra
- MacOS Sierra can detect your presence if you’re wearing an Apple Watch and auto-unlock your computer without ever having to enter a password.
- All Desktop files on your Mac will follow you and be accessible on all your other Apple devices.
- New optimization storage features will now make room for new files by keeping old files in the cloud. Apple claims that a laptop with only 20GB of free storage can be increased to 150GB of storage after the optimization process.
- Universal clipboard allows copying something on one Apple device and pasting it on another.
iOS 10
- A completely redesigned lockscreen and notification system along with improved 3D Touch.
- Notifications can now be cleared with a “clear all” button
- Apple Music has been redesigned and made easier to navigate.
- Siri is getting smarter and will be baked into QuickType, providing better predictive text, as well as prompts to access certain information like your location or most recent email address.
- Siri has now been opened to developers.
