The future of food will have to wait.
Following a voluntary recall of Soylent food bars in the U.S., Health Canada has issued a warning involving the food bars, advising Canadian consumers against consuming them.
If you bought any Soylent food bars, the agency says to throw them out and seek a doctor if you feel ill after eating one.
Soylent halted sales of its food bars two weeks ago, following reports of customers getting sick after eating the meal replacement. The company is currently investigating the issue.
“After hearing from our customers, we immediately began investigating the cause of the issue and whether it was linked to a problem with the Bars,” said Soylent in a statement. “So far we have not yet identified one and this issue does not appear to affect our other drinks and powder. Though our investigation into this matter continues, we have decided to err on the side of caution and take this preventative step.”
Reports that Soylent food bars were unhealthy to eat started popping up on Reddit and the company’s own forums. One man in Toronto blamed the bars for his first trip to the emergency room.
