Samsung Canada recently launched the #BeFearless campaign in an effort to encourage Canadians to conquer their fears.
However, the company is recommending a form of therapy most people haven’t considered. Samsung Canada is promoting a Galaxy S7 immersive virtual reality experience to help people overcome two of the most common fears; heights and public speaking.
Using virtual reality technology, as well as the Samsung Galaxy S7 and its virtual reality headset, the GearVR, #BeFearless is designed to help users gradually overcome fears in a controlled environment.
The challenges are presented in a gamified VR environment over a four week period. In the heights module, participants fully experience levels that gradually increase in difficulty, from a glass elevator to a drive along a cliff. Public speaking scenarios include conversations, job interviews and even virtual karaoke.
“As part of our ongoing commitment to make a difference in our connected lives, we believe the immersive VR innovation behind #BeFearless can empower many of us to master our fears,” said Mark Childs, chief marketing officer at Samsung Canada, in a statement send to MobileSyrup.
“We hope this inspires Canadians to experience the global movement. Following its success in Europe, Russia and the United Arab Emirates, we’re proud to join eight other countries to help even more people realize their full potential.”
The VR experience modules are available for free to download in Canada
