Continuing its transformation into a security-focused software company, BlackBerry has announced a new Internet of Things management platform.
Dubbed BlackBerry Secure, the platform integrates BES12, now known as BlackBerry UEM under the company’s new naming scheme, as well as many of its other software offerings — many of them acquired in the past two years — into a single comprehensive software suite designed to allow enterprise clients to manage and secure any number of mobile and IoT devices.
“Businesses must be able to confidentially and reliably transmit sensitive data between endpoints to keep people, information and goods safe,” said BlackBerry CEO John Chen in a statement issued to MobileSyrup. “BlackBerry is uniquely qualified to address this emerging market now because of our deep experience, industry leadership and ongoing product innovation that addresses future business needs.”
Some of the platform’s other integrations include BlackBerry Work, previously known as Good Work, a tool that combines the company’s email, calendar, contacts and document apps, allowing users to collaboration on projects in a secure environment and BlackBerry Workspaces, a file management tool that allows users to view and edit files.
