Oxford is the originator of the #NotOkay hashtag. Using Twitter, Oxford rallied women around the world to discuss their experiences with sexual assault, a feat which also won her a place in the Toronto Star’s “Best People of 2016” roundup.

Known for her fierce hot takes on sexual assault, this isn’t the first time the Edmonton native has gained recognition through her Twitter feed. She was named one of Time Magazine’s top 140 Twitter feeds in both 2011 and 2012.

She’s best known for her 2013 book “Everything is Perfect when you’re a Liar,” and her 2017 follow-up, “When You Find Out the World is Against You: And Other Funny Memories About Awful Moments.”

Over 21 thousand votes were cast, and of those, Oxford received 10,500, Sebastian Olzanski (@sebtsb) received 9,400 and Penny Oleksiak (@OleksiakPenny) received 1,900.
