A new era is upon us on January 20th, 2017. Donald J. Trump will be inaugurated as the 45th President of the United States and Mike Pence will become the 48th Vice President of the United States.
While one can watch all the political festivities unfold on TV or YouTube, Twitter is once again stretching its presence and will live stream the ceremony through its platform.
In partnership with PBS NewsHour, the US presidential inauguration day coverage will begin at 11:00 am (EST) on January 20th until 5:00 pm (EST) and will be streamed from inauguration.twitter.com. Similar to the 2016 U.S. presidential/vice presidential debates, Canadians will be able to tune in online or through the company’s mobile apps and share their thoughts on the event.
In a statement to MobileSyrup, Jennifer Hollett, Head of News and Government at Twitter Canada, said, “Billions of people worldwide will be focused on Washington next Friday and we’re pleased to be giving Canadians a chance to watch the inauguration as it unfolds, live on Twitter.”
She added, “Twitter has become the best way to find out what’s happening in politics, both at home and elsewhere. We anticipate this latest live stream will find a large audience amongst Canadians and we invite Canadians on Twitter to participate alongside the broadcast.”
