The U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC) is stepping in to investigate a complaint from Nokia that accuses Apple of importing smart phones, tablets and other electronics that infringe on its patents.
The complaint was noticed by Reuters, which reports that Finland-based Nokia is seeking a cease and desist and a limited exclusion order against Apple. The USITC refused to comment further on the situation, noting that it had not yet made a decision.
This is the latest in a series of patent disputes lodged against Apple for the once-powerful mobile company, which announced the sale of its core handset division to Microsoft in 2013 and now focuses primarily on wireless infrastructure. Nokia launched a major patent lawsuit campaign against Apple in late December 2016, following Apple’s filing of an anti-trust case that heavily indicated Nokia.
