In a surprise move, HTC’s U Ultra smartphone is now available to purchase in Canada.
Canadians can buy the new device unlocked for $999 from the HTC website. It’s available in ‘Sapphire Blue,’ ‘Ice White’ and ‘Brilliant Black.’
Consumers that take the plunge and buy the U Ultra can also get a pair of JBL Aware C earphones, normally priced at $270, for $135 CAD.
Announced at the start of the year, the HTC Ultra borrows many of its marquee features from other popular handsets. For instance, taking a page from the LG V20, the U Ultra features a 160 x 1040 secondary display. Moreover, like the iPhone 7 and Moto Z, HTC’s latest smartphone doesn’t feature a separate analog headphone jack for audio output — which is where the JBL headphones promotion helps. See the chart below for a full list of the device’s internal specs.
Freedom Mobile subscribers note that the U Ultra’s LTE modem does not support Band 66, meaning you won’t be able to use this device’s with the carrier’s LTE network.
