Less than two months after the LineageOS team released their first set of custom ROMs, the project has passed one million users, according to statistics published by the team.
The milestone is made more impressive by the fact that the project had hit the 500,000 user milestone just last month.
With 10,087 device installs, Canada is the 16th most active national community, according to the project’s stats. Meanwhile, with 75,390, 67,080 and 47,482 users respectively, India, China and the U.S. round out the top three most active LineageOS user bases.
In terms of devices, the custom ROM is most popular on the OnePlus One and OnePlus 3. The reason for this is likely two-fold. First, unlocking the bootloader on a OnePlus device, which is necessary to install a custom ROM, does not void the manufacturer’s warranty. Second, there’s OnePlus’ history with Cyanogen. After the company’s break with Cyanogen Inc., OnePlus gave OnePlus One users the option to switch freely between OxygenOS and CyanogenOS.
Rounding out the list of top three devices is the international variant of the Galaxy S3.
