Earlier this week, Apple introduced a special edition iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in red. This mid-year refresh will boost company revenues but more importantly, help millions of people as a portion of the earnings will contribute to the Global AIDS and HIV Fund.
This release is part of Apple’s commitment to (PRODUCT)RED, which supports an “AIDS-free generation”. To date, Apple has donated $130 million to the Global Fund with various (PRODUCT)RED devices and initiatives. This is the first time the iPhone has been graced with its design, which has a matte red colour on the back and white front.
Apple is currently selling the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus (PRODUCT)RED Special Edition 128GB for $1029 (CAD) and the 256GB version for $1179.
From a Canadian carrier perspective, Telus, Rogers, Fido, Bell, Bell MTS, Virgin, Eastlink, Videotron and SaskTel are all committed to selling the newest colour option. The 128GB iPhone 7 is retailing for $1,055 no-term, and $1,195 for the 256GB model. In addition, the special edition iPhone 7 Plus 128GB is $1,215 and the 256GB iPhone 7 Plus is $1,345 no-term.
On contract, most carriers are selling the special edition iPhone 7 for $329.99 for the 128GB and the 256GB for $459.99 (Or lower). The iPhone 7 Plus 128GB is priced at $479.99, while the 256GB model is $599.99 on contract.
