Samsung has high expectations for its flagship.
In an interview with South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency, Koh reportedly said the company expects the Galaxy S8 to outsell the Galaxy S7. Reuters has since been able to confirm Koh’s comments. The spokesperson that spoke to Reuters declined to provide specific sales targets, but noted Koh is measuring the S8’s success based on first-year sales, which is to say we’ll likely have to wait a while before we see whether his prediction proves true.
A separate report by Yonhap, published on the eve of the S8’s reveal, casts doubt on whether Samsung can achieve its lofty goal. According to the report, Samsung will likely have difficulty meeting demand for the S8 due to the “sluggish production” of the both the Snapdragon 835 and Exynos Series 9 8895 chipsets.
