During a recent behind closed door hands-on event prior to the release of the Galaxy S8/S8+, Samsung heavily touted ‘Bixby Voice,’ its virtual assistant’s voice features.
While I didn’t get a chance to go hands-on with the feature, it seemed, at least at the outset, impressive.
The feature, however, was delayed just a few weeks later, with Samsung promising Bixby Voice would still arrive at a later date around the world. In South Korea, it seems like that date is today, with the feature rolling out to S8 and S8+ users across the country, according to ZDNet.
Currently S8 owners in Canada are able to use Bixby Vision’s augmented reality object recognition feature and Bixby Home, a more customizable version of Google Now.
Samsung’s voice controls are a significant selling point of Bixby, so the feature’s delay came as a surprise to many. In terms of Canada, Samsung says Bixby Voice is launching here “later this spring.”
