HTC’s still unannounced upcoming flagship device, the HTC U11, has leaked several times over the last few weeks, including Evan Blass’ original leak back in February.
We’ve already seen the smartphone — or what we think the device will look like — and know about its ‘Edge Sense’ squeezing feature, as well as its rumoured specs.
Now another leak from Gear regarding the HTC U11 has given us even more information about the smartphone.
Previous leaks have covered the U11’s 12-megapixel rear-facing camera with UltraPixel 3 image sensor, its 16-megapixel selfie camera — similar to the HTC U Ultra — and its Qualcomm octa-core 10nm 835 Snapdragon chipset. Also, according to previous leaks, the device will feature a 5.5-inch 1440 x 2560 pixel Gorilla Glass 5 display, ‘Edge Sense,’ a feature that allows users to squeeze their device to enable certain functions, 3D Audio recording and HTC Usonic.
These new leaks indicate the HTC U11 will feature 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage and be expandable up to 2TB. The device is set to be be Dual Nano SIM capable, will have Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 compatibility and feature a fingerprint scanner — though the placement of the scanner in unknown.
According to other publications such as Gear and Android Central the smartphone will have two variants; 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage like suggested in the leak above, and another variant with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage similar to the Samsung Galaxy S8. The device will also come with Bluetooth 5.0 and a 3,000 mAh non-removable battery, according to Gear.
The HTC U11 appears to be a powerhouse device if the above leaked specs are accurate. The device supersedes the U Ultra in specs and appears to not have ripped off another company’s gimmick — the U Ultra’s second screen is a feature borrowed from the LG V10. The one question remaining is why the U11 is only IP57 certified and not IP68 water and dust resistant like other flagship devices released this year.
HTC will unveil the U11 on May 16th at 2am EST.
