LG denies claims it’s replacing HTC in developing Google Pixel 3 smartphone

Google Pixel in hand

A new report suggests Google is looking to have LG manufacture its 2018 flagship Pixel 3 smartphones, but the South Korean tech giant is denying the claims. Google has had HTC handle production on the previous Pixel phones, but Chosun Biz says that the company wants a new partner that can provide “more stability” in manufacturing.

However, Ken Hong, LG’s global communication director, told Android Authority that the information from Chosun Biz is “speculation of the highest degree” and that LG does not “deal in rumour or speculation.”

LG has worked with Google in the past, though, with some of the company’s previous Nexus models being made by the South Korean company. Earlier in the year, Google even reportedly offered to invest $880 million into LG’s OLED display supply.
