With only 12 hours until HTC’s Brilliant U event, the HTC U11 has leaked once again. However, this time it’s the real deal as we get a look at the Taiwanese company’s still-unannounced squeezable phone.
The video shows how the Edge Sense feature is capable of launching the phone’s camera app, take pictures with the camera, launch Google Assistant and open Google Chrome, just by squeezing the device. Edge Sense appears to be controlled by how much force is applied and how long the smartphone is squeezed for.
The video also shows that the device is running Android 7.1.1 and utilizes the newest version of HTC Sense. The HTC U11 comes in a glossy ‘reflective’ finish as mentioned in one of HTC’s previous tweets and comes in five different colours, white, black, red and two different shades of blue.
HTC’s newest flagship is USB-C only, like the U Ultra, and comes with a headphone adapter. The device appears to feature stereo speakers — one at the top of the device and one next to the USB C port. The smartphone has small capacitive back and recent apps buttons surrounding the home button, like the U Ultra.
Other specs revealed by Droidholic include that the device will feature a 5.5-inch Quad-HD display with a 534ppi pixel density, an octa-core Snapdragon 535 processor with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, though the Chinese model will get 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
The leaks also reveal the device will include a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera with a Sony IMX362 Sensor and f/1.7 aperture, with a 16-megapixel selfie camera with a f/2.0 aperture.
It will be interesting to see if HTC is still able to surprise us with anything new at its Brilliant U conference at 2:00am ET.
