Elon Musk’s Boring Company has shown off new images of concept high-speed vehicles that would be used in underground tunnels currently under construction.
The Tesla-co founder had previously shown a brief glimpse of the electric vehicles in a video during a Ted Talk presentation in April.
Based on the images, it appears that the vehicles are spacious enough to hold several people, including their bicycles. The vehicles also seem to be enclosed with glass and shaped like a minibus.
Actual cars are expected to fit in these tunnels too, which Musk said at the Ted Talk can reach underground depths via a large elevator.
“Sleds” will be installed in the tunnels that allow cars to be quickly transported to and from locations.
Earlier this month, Musk also took to social media to reveal footage of some underground vehicles that could travel at speeds of up to 200 km/h.
The ultimate goal is to create an interconnected network of underground tunnels in Los Angeles that would allow for rapid travel in the city, sometimes within mere minutes. Musk kicked off the project due to complaints of heavy California traffic.
