While picture-in-picture (PIP) is not the latest Android feature to hit Oreo, some of its key additions haven’t been widely available with every media streaming app.
Picture-in-picture is new multi-tasking functionality that allows users to start streaming video in an app, and then minimize the window, allowing them to continue using other apps while the video plays.
Now, with the Android 8.1 developer preview, users can utilize picture-in-picture with Netflix.
PIP slides the Netflix viewing window into the corner of a display. The new feature can also be used with downloadable Netflix videos for offline viewing.
As of right now, the feature will only work with Nexus or Pixel devices currently running the 8.1 developers preview, with the latest version of the Netflix app from the Google Play Store.
