U.S.-based financial service provider Visa is taking contactless payments to a new level.
The company is introducing a series of NFC-enabled gloves, stickers and commemorative pins ahead of the 2018 Olympic winter games in PyeongChang, South Korea.
“We are looking forward to transforming the payment experience for everyone who attends the upcoming Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang,” said Iain Jamieson, Visa’s Korea country manager, in a November 8th, 2017 media release.The company worked with Korean retail company Lotte Department Store to create these new wearables.
Anyone interested in purchasing these products will be able to do so from Korean credit card company Lotte Card — which is also the financial wing of the Lotte Group conglomerate. These products will also be sold on the Lotte Card website.
The gloves will be sold with prepaid amounts of 30,000 KRW (roughly $34.35 CAD) and 50,000 KRW (roughly $57.24 CAD).
The stickers will be sold with prepaid amounts of 30,000 KRW; 50,000 KRW; 100,000 KRW (roughly $114.49 CAD); and 200,000 KRW (roughly $228.98 CAD).
The pins will cost 5,000 KRW (roughly $5.72 CAD) and will come with prepaid amounts of 30,000 KRW and 50,000 KRW.Visa will sell these products through vending machines during the 2018 Olympics.
Visa is the official and exclusive payment technology partner of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
