Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot says he believes the next generation of PlayStation and Xbox hardware is at least two years away.
“As Sony launched PlayStation 4 Pro last year and Microsoft Xbox One X this year, we think we still have a minimum of two years in front of us before something new is coming, ” said Guillemot during a recent investors’ call. Guillemot also confirmed that this is only something that he and his team believes and that the studio does not have insider information regarding the future of the video game industry.
Guillemot also mentioned during the call how he likes that Sony and Microsoft have updated their gaming platforms with the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. He also says that he believes this is a step in the right direction for both of the console-makers.
“We really like the fact that Sony and Microsoft are really putting more power in their machines, using the evolution of technology to give power to our developers to create better games for our players,” said Guillemot.
Microsoft’s Xbox One X was released on Tuesday, while the PlayStation 4 Pro hit store shelves on November 10th last year. In MobileSyrup’s review of the Xbox One X, senior editor Patrick O’Rourke gave the console a score of 8 out of 10.
During the earnings call, Ubisoft also announced that Assassin’s Creed Origins doubled the number of copies sold when compared to 2015’s Assassin’s Creed Syndicate.
