Rogers and its sub-brand Fido today announced the expansion of LTE service to Tsawwassen Mills, a 1.2 million-square-foot shopping complex located near the Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal in Delta, B.C.
The expansion is part of the carrier’s ongoing investment in B.C, which in the past has seen Rogers build out LTE service in Vancouver’s SkyTrain tunnels and stations.
“Our customers want a reliable mobile experience wherever they are, whether it’s to keep in touch with friends and family or shopping for great Black Friday deals on their phones,” said Perm Jawanda, regional vice president at Rogers, in a prepared statement. “That’s why we’re investing to make sure they have worry-free access to our great-performing network in more places. As communities and business grow across the province, we’re going to continue to improve service across British Columbia.”
Rogers also announced that it’s turned on 700 MHz LTE spectrum. Amusingly, the carrier describes the 700mhz wavelength as “the beachfront real estate of spectrum.” It’s a weird way to describe spectrum, but it does get to the fact that the 700 MHz wavelength is extremely valuable and coveted among carriers.
