A Shenzhen, China-based startup named HiBy only has a few days left for its portable Hi-Fi audio player on Kickstarter.
HiBy has been making high-quality audio players for a while now with its previous audio player, the R6, finding success on Indiegogo last year.
The company is back with a new player called the R3, which comes with a few upgrades over the R6, including support for Tidal Hi-Fi, a more compact frame, USB-C connectivity and up to 2TB of additional media storage via microSD compatibility.
The device runs HiBy’s proprietary OS and has a pocket-sized 3.2-inch touchscreen. According to HiBy, the R3’s 1,600mAh battery is rated to last to last 11 hours on a single charge.
In terms of audio quality, the R3 supports 64-bit/384kHz audio quality, along with some new technology like APTX to give better sound over Bluetooth and DSD which is another wireless technology that is able to transmit higher quality audio like FLAC or WAV.
The R3’s full list of specs can be found on its Kickstarter page.
Currently, the device has raised $330,646 CAD and is still available to pre-order until April 26th. The R3 starts at about $240.
