Bandai Namco has announced Pac-Man Stories, a collection of interactive tales for Amazon’s Alexa voice-activated assistant and the company’s various Echo devices.
The Skill features “family-friendly” stories told through a choose-your-own-adventure style experience, according to Bandai Namco. The first story, called Pac-Man and the Ghastly Garbage, tasks players with helping to “save Pac-Man planet from garbage and a threat that affects everyone you meet.”
More stories are coming over the course of the summer, says Bandai Namco, including ones that feature notable characters from the Pac-Man series like Blinky, Inky, Pinky and Clyde.
“Voice-controlled services are an exciting technology with this great vision of being in everyone’s home and used by any family member,” said president and COO of Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe, Naoki Katashima in a statement.
“It just seemed natural to us to use our iconic character Pac-Man to create fun interactive stories for all ages together with our company vision to provide dreams, fun, and inspiration to people around the world.”
Pac-Man seems like a strange choice for an Alexa skill topic, especially one of the choose-your-own adventure variety. That said, I haven’t had the chance to test the skill out yet myself. If you have, let us know what you think of it in the comments section
