Lenovo’s vice president Chang Cheng has teased a new phone on Weibo, a Chinese social networking website. The phone features a very thin bezel surrounding its display.
From the top of the screen, it’s clear the company didn’t put the front facing camera in its a typical location.
The sketch of the upcoming smartphone points to the Lenovo Z5 featuring a 95 percent screen-to-body ratio. Cheng also claims the Z5 features four technology breakthroughs and includes 18 patented technologies.
One of them likely includes how the manufacturer plans to fit a selfie shooter in the phone. Anyway you look at it, a 95 percent screen to body ratio is quite impressive.
The Essential Phone features a screen-to-body ratio of 84.9 percent. Meanwhile, Vivo’s concept phone, the Apex, features a 98 percent screen-to-body ratio. The handset does this by hiding the front facing camera within the phone.
It’ll be interesting to see how Lenovo managed to develop a device with a 95 percent screen-to-body ratio. Vivo’s device is still a concept, so if Lenovo manages to release the handset before Xiaomi, it would end up being the smartphone with the largest screen-to-body ratio on the market.
