Google has announced that it’s getting rid of AdSense on Android and iOS, with a web client being the preferred alternative.
AdSense lets publishers place advertising on their website, and the mobile apps allow users to track the views and revenue earned from Google’s advertising platform.
Google says that given a third of the users access AdSense from mobile devices, working on one web offers a better experience to users.
“By investing in a common web application that supports all platforms, we will be able to deliver AdSense features optimized for mobile much faster than we can today,” said Google in a recent statement.
The new web client will be a ‘Progressive Web App’ that lets users pin it to their homescreens so it appears on Android’s app launcher.
The shutdown for AdSense will take place in the coming months. Google has yet to pinpoint an exact timeline.
However, Google will remove AdSense from app stores before the end of 2019.
Google will announce more about AdSense throughout the year.
