Quebec Supreme Court gives the go ahead for an Apple lawsuit

Apple

Quebec’s Superior Court has authorized a class-action lawsuit against Apple and its Canadian division.

The Montreal Gazette reports the lawsuit affects those who have bought any Apple products with a rechargeable battery since December 29th, 2014 (that would include iPhones, Apple Watches, iPads, iPods and Macbooks.) It also will affect those who purchased Applecare or AppleCare+ since December 20th, 2015.

The lawsuit alleges that Apple did not provide products that would last for an appropriate amount of time.

Those who purchased an AppleCare warranty “were not informed of the legal guarantee available to them under Quebec’s Consumer Protection Act,” the article noted.

The lawsuit seeks compensatory and punitive damages for those that have been affected.
