iOS 7.1 will reportedly launch this week

iPhone 5s review

Apple’s latest version of its mobile OS is expected to launch this week, according to Daring Fireball’s John Gruber.

He notes that the company, which has been beta testing iOS 7.1 for months, plans to launch it alongside an app meant for streaming its iTunes music festival being held next week in Austin, Texas, during SXSW. That app will reportedly require iOS 7.1 to function, so one can only deduce Apple will make the OS publicly available in the coming days.

iOS 7.1 is unlikely to have many user-facing changes — small improvements to certain aspects of the user interface, including minor reworkings of the Phone and Camera apps — but will reportedly fix a number of stability issues, including random reboots, that have plagued iOS 7 users since the launch of the iPhone 5s and 5c in September.
