Android distribution numbers for January show KitKat at 39.1%, Lollipop still under 0.1%

Android 5.0 Lollipop is currently nowhere to be found, as “any versions with less than 0.1% distribution are not shown,” but KitKat continues its growth by increasing 5.2% to power 39.1% of devices visiting Google Play. Jelly Bean is still the most widely used version of Android with 46%, down over 3% from December. Froyo, Gingerbread and Ice Cream Sandwich all decreased, and represent a combined 14.9%.

It’s unfortunate that Froyo, a four-year old OS that was released in 2010, has more adoption that Google’s latest version. However, by next month we should see Lollipop arrive on the charts, as there were a number of high profile devices launched recently, including the Nexus 9 and Nexus 6.
