OnePlus teases new ‘game changing’ product

It’s been a busy week for OnePlus. The company on Tuesday announced a release date for its OxygenOS as well as for CyanogenMod 12S. Not content with one teaser, the company today took to its official forums to post some photos of a new and unannounced product it has in the works.

Using the hashtag #OneGameChanger, OnePlus today revealed that it’s already at work on its next product, which won’t be a tablet or smartwatch. The company doesn’t rule out another smartphone but does say that this next product will be “a curveball” so a phone seems unlikely.

“The One was created to disrupt the smartphone world. The Power Bank was born to give our users more options and greater mobility,” OnePlus’s David S wrote in his post. “So, when it came time to think about our next product, we decided on a curveball.”

There are three photos attached to the post, none of which are very revealing. The first shows a glowing red light that could be an infrared sensor, while the second shows a OnePlus logo drawn with two parallel beams of red light. The final photo is a pair of hands holding an invisible device.

Going through the responses from the OnePlus community, popular opinion is that this is something to do with games (which is obvious based on the hashtag). Whether it’s an Android-based game console (like the Ouya) or just a controller for playing Android games on your phone or tablet.

OnePlus has promised a Lollipop for the end of March and this new device will come soon after, in April.
