Apple announced this morning that the new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are on track to set a record for first-weekend sales. In a statement, Apple said, “Customer response to iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus has been extremely positive and preorders this weekend were very strong around the world. We are on pace to beat last year’s 10 million unit first-weekend record when the new iPhones go on sale September 25.”
In addition, Apple noted that interest in the iPhone 6s Plus has been “exceptionally strong and exceeded our own forecasts for the preorder period.” Shipping times for the 5.5-inch iPhone has slipped to three to four weeks for most models.
The new iPhones are now available to pre-order through Apple, or at select Canadian carriers, such as Bell, Telus, Rogers, SaskTel, Videotron, MTS, Virgin and Fido.
