Starting today, with the latest release of Adobe Lightroom (version 1.4), Android users can now use the best-in-class image editing software without having to subscribe to Adobe’s Creative Cloud service — though the company will still encourage you to get an one. This means Adobe Lightroom is now free to use on a smartphone that runs Google’s mobile operating system.
While not as fully featured as its desktop sibling, which still requires a Creative Cloud subscription, the Android version of Lightroom is still a more than capable photo editor. With multiple built-in presets for quick editing, RAW support and easy sharing support to other photo platforms like Instagram, Lightroom is a good fit for smartphone photographers of all stripes.
Adobe previously made Lightroom free to use on iOS back in October. A Creative Cloud subscription is still required to sync data between the mobile version of Lightroom and its desktop counterpart.
