Wattpad’s universal Windows 10 app brings 100 million stories to the smartphone

When Microsoft unveiled Windows 10 and its universal apps framework, the hope was that Windows Phone users would finally get access to the great variety of apps available on Android and iOS. We’re still in the early days of Windows 10’s lifespan, but it appears Microsoft’s approach is starting to pay dividends.

On Wednesday, Toronto-based Wattpad, which operates an online user-submitted book publishing platform that has more than 40 million people on it, released its Windows 10 app.

Like the company’s offering on other mobile platforms, the Windows 10 Wattpad app allows users to read and discover stories, as well as interact with the rest of the Wattpad community.

“A dedicated Windows App is one of the most-requested features by the international Wattpad community,” said Tarun Sachdeva, Wattpad’s head of product, in a statement issued to MobileSyrup. “With the new Windows App, more people can use their phones to discover original entertainment about the things they love.”
