Google updates My Maps Android app with Material design

Google today announced that it has finally decided to retire its once-popular photo album service Picasa, in favour of Google Photos. While not all is lost, Google has opted to give My Maps for Android a refresh, the platform’s first since 2014.

Google says that it has rebuilt the app from the ground up with its new Material design guidelines in mind.

If you’re not familiar with My Maps, it’s basically a dedicated app that keeps a log of the destinations the user deems important. The app allows you to display Street View imagery and also has the ability to locate photos and videos that have been added on the web.

My Maps is now available in Google Play Store.
