At WWDC 2016, Apple announced the latest version of its Apple TV operating system, tvOS.
The new version of tvOS brings with it a revamped version of the company’s Remote App. Apple’s new Remote App takes all of the Siri Remote’s features and adds them to any iOS device capable of running the app.
On the device itself, users can now search movies by topic. During his WWDC presentation, Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice-president of software and services, asked Siri to “find high school movies from the 80s,” and the set-top box surfaced a variety of high school themed films from that era, including Ferris Buller’s Day Off.
The company also announced a new Single Sign In feature. Moving forward, users will be able to log into their Apple TV and gain access to all their channel logins.
The tvOS developer preview launches today. The consumer version will available in the fall.
