Toronto Parking Authority pilots location-based coupon program in its mobile app

Want some perks in return for your parking patronage?

The Toronto Parking Authority, also known as Green P, is partnering with Canadian mobile retail experience company MobilexCo to pilot a location-based coupon feature in two Liberty Village parking lots.

Customers will be able to opt-in to receive discounts from 18 businesses in the area, including grocery story Metro, soccer franchise Toronto FC and restaurant Shoeless Joe’s.

After paying for parking in one of the Green P lots on their app, users will then receive a text message with a link to a mobile coupon for a local business. The coupon doesn’t require scanning at point-of-sale, rather, Green P’s demonstration video shows a somewhat cumbersome looking exchange of codes at check-out.

For those Torontonian drivers interested in testing out Green P’s new mobile feature, the two participating lots are 1155 King Street West and 34 Hanna Avenue.
