Samsung will reportedly once again ship a Classic variant of its upcoming Gear smartwatch

With the Note 7 set to arrive in Canada on August 19, the Samsung rumour mill has turned to the company’s final 2016 release, a new Gear smartwatch.

According to trademark application spotted by SamMobile, Samsung’s new smartwatch will be called the Gear S3 and it will once again come in two different variants: a standard silicone and stainless steel version, as well as a leather and stainless steel ‘Classic’ version.

We also know — thanks to SamMobile again — that the Gear S3, like its predecessor, will feature a rotary bezel.

While there hasn’t been confirmation on this point, it’s also safe to say the Gear S3 will come with the company’s own Tizen operating system. While the company later denied their statements, a group of Samsung executives told Fast Company during Google I/O that the company had no plans to release any more Android Wear smartwatches.

Samsung is expected to announce the Gear S3 at its IFA Berlin keynote. The annual consumer tech conference trade show starts this year on September 2.
