After a few months’ delay, Spotify’s Premium for Family accounts are now available in Canada for $14.99 CAD, matching Apple Music’s family pricing.
The $14.99 family option allows for up to six accounts, and was first rolled out in May 2016. The launch excluded Canada but hit all of the streaming platform’s other markets. Previous to the price point change, a family pricing tier was available in the U.S. for $29.99 USD.
In addition to the family subscription option, Spotify offers single user premium accounts for $9.99 and also has a free account option, supported by ads. Premium accounts lack the ads, and include the ability to listen offline and skip unlimited tracks.
In September 2016, Spotify stated that it had 40 million paid subscribers worldwide, shortly after Apple revealed at its iPhone 7 unveiling that it was quickly gaining on the service with 17 million of its own paid subscribers.
