Facebook debuts a new, simple-to-use Privacy Basics site

Ahead of Data Privacy Day on January 28th, Facebook has overhauled its Privacy Basics site in order to make it simpler and more accessible for all users. The site provides users with information about protecting their privacy with 32 interactive guides available in 44 languages.

The site is sectioned into frequently asked questions about privacy and settings including “How do I choose who can see photos and other things I post on Facebook?” or “How can I see what my profile looks like to someone else?”

Information on how to control the ads users are shown and ways to increase account security.

On Data Privacy Day organizations such as Facebook, the National Cyber Security Alliance, the Electronic Frontier Foundation and the Center for Democracy and Technology will participate to promote awareness of digital and online privacy measures.

It began in the U.S. and Canada in 2008 and commemorates the January 28th, 1981, signing of Convention 108, the first legally binding international treaty dealing with privacy and protection.
