Virgin predicts 1.5 billion texts sent between December 25th and January 1st

Every year Virgin Mobile puts out a prediction of how many texts messages will be sent during the holiday season. In 2008 it was predicted that 100 million text messages on Christmas Day and 100 million on New Year’s Eve. In 2009 Virgin predicted 200 million text messages on Christmas Day and 225 million text messages on New Year’s Eve.

Now Virgin Mobile has declared their predictions for 2010: Over 300 million texts will be sent on Christmas Day and a New Year’s Eve will see the number rise to 350 million texts. An even greater number is estimated by the Virgin of a whopping combined total of 1.5 billion texts between December 25th and January 1st.

Sure the popularity of texting seems to be increasing… would be cool to see some Twitter stats too.
