Taylor Swift is back on Spotify

After a temporary absence, Taylor Swift is returning to Spotify, as well as other music streaming platforms like Tidal and Amazon Music Unlimited, the popular singer announced on Thursday. Swift’s entire catalogue, including her 2014 breakout, 1989, is available to stream as of midnight earlier today. In addition, her music is available on both Spotify’s premium and ad-supported tiers.

The move comes in celebration of the fact that Swift has sold more than 10 million copies of 1989 and 100 million songs total.

Swift famously pulled her catalogue from Spotify in 2014 when the company refused to stop streaming her music through its free tier. In an interview with Time Magazine, Swift said, “I think there should be an inherent value placed on art,” adding, “Beats Music and Rhapsody you have to pay for a premium package in order to access my albums. And that places a perception of value on what I’ve created.”

Since 2014, however, both Spotify and Apple Music have seen significant growth. According to each company’s metrics, Spotify has 50 million paid subscribers, while Apple Music has 27 million. In some ways, even artists like Swift can’t afford to ignore the two platforms — though she’s had a significant effect on how the two companies do business. Swift singlehandedly caused Apple to start paying artists for any songs Apple Music listeners stream during their free three-month trial of the service when she wrote an open letter to the company.
